The GoSocial blog

Notes on hosting, discovery and building local communities that actually turn up.

Hosting on GoSocial is now free and unlimited

Every member can now publish as many events as they like. Business Pro is only for organisers who want to sell tickets.

We built GoSocial because community organisers were being charged a monthly tax just to put a plan in a calendar. That never sat right with us.

From today, hosting free events is unlimited for everyone. No trial, no event counter, no upgrade prompt in the middle of publishing.

Business Pro stays for organisers running things at scale: ticket sales at a 1.5% fee, unlimited community groups, a monthly Spotlight Boost and attendee data export.

Why we made the map the homepage

Lists tell you what exists. Maps tell you what is actually near enough to turn up to.

Most event apps open with an endless feed. It looks busy, but it rarely answers the only question that matters: is there something happening near me, soon, that I would enjoy?

The map answers that in a glance. Pins carry the activity icon and the host's face, so you can read the vibe before you read the description.

Pick your interests once and the map tunes itself — and you can change your mind any time from the filter bar.

Karma, check-ins and the culture of showing up

A four-digit handshake at the door keeps groups warm and no-shows rare.

Nothing kills a small meetup faster than half the list not turning up. Karma is our answer: attend, get checked in with the host's four-digit handshake, and your score climbs.

Hosts see trust badges on their guest list, so they know who reliably shows up. Attendees get a streak worth protecting.

It is a light touch by design — a nudge, not a credit score.
